You read that right! Acne can take up to 90 days to form! Acne is an inherited disorder of the pores where dead skin shed much faster than normal. Normal pores shed approximately 1 layer per day inside the pore. Where as acne-prone skin can shed up to 5 layers per day inside the pore. This leads to buildup. This build up causes a microcomedome, which is where acne lesions begin. This turns into blackheads or whiteheads under the skin. If bacteria is present. It feeds on the dead skin cells and oil creating inflamed pimples or pustules and cysts. This entire process can take up to 90 days!! Since this process can take so long, you have to understand that once you start your acne clearing journey, that acne is still forming and might not come up until 3 months later. Skincare EW’S 🤢 Let’s all be a little better with our skincare in 2024! These are all simple habits that aren’t the cleanest/ best for your skin that you can change today!! -wearing makeup to bed, it doesn’t take more than a few minutes to remove your makeup before you go to sleep. I promise you will thank yourself in the morning for taking a couple extra minutes at night for yourself ! -not double cleansing, this goes hand and hand with removing your makeup! 1st cleanse use a oil or milk cleanser with no actives to remove your makeup, dirt and oil. Massage this into your skin with a little water for 1-2 minutes. Rise with water. Then go in with your corrective/ targeted cleanser! This is going to give your skin that deep clean feeling. If you only cleanse once you’re only removing the surface makeup, oil, dirt etc. the second cleanse is to really get your skin super clean! -not wearing SPF everyday, you need to wear SPF every single day no matter what! Even in the winter you can get sun damage. The heat doesn’t equal sunburn. You can get burnt even from snow! The sunlight can reflect off the snow and hit your face. Please protect your skin and the effectiveness of your products by wearing SPF everyday!( btw, SPF in makeup doesn’t count! You still need a base layer of SPF and to reapply throughout the day!!) -using a dirty bath towel to dry your face, please use a Clean Skin Club Towel! There is so much bacteria that can harbor in bath towels and wash cloths even if it is clean. This can help fight against acne causing bacteria! Make the switch! I graduated high school in 2020 during the pandemic(Yes, I know I’m a baby), I was stuck in my bedroom while trying to complete my 1st semester of college and I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do with my life. I was depressed and scared of what my future was going to look like. After a visit to a med spa for a facial and color analysis that my mom gifted to my sister & I, my mom thought it would be a good idea to look into esthetics school.
